Role aboard the train

Michelle patrols first-class corridors, comments on Winston's reports, and can escort rowdy youths out of car seven when you ask politely. She also sits in Gnevko's illegal poker game if you recruit her — which changes who holds Rosa Wojciechowska's stolen brooch later.

She is not a romance sim character with a visible affection meter. Progress instead tracks quest completions: returning bond halves, handing off the brooch, and reporting poker results back to her.

Achievements tied to Michelle

Four Steam icons orbit her directly: At Your Service, King, Queen, Knave, 387.44M, and Ummagumma. A fifth hidden badge — Discard — triggers if Gnevko murders her after a rigged poker loss. Cross-reference unlock wording on the achievements guide.

Promotion checklist

Hit weekly report targets without excessive blackmail if you still need smuggling goodwill later. Major Sargas assigns first-class berths after the capital leg — save a manual slot labeled "pre-Michelle" before the promotion cutscene.

First conversations

Early Michelle dialogue is optional flavor. The Beholder Conductor Michelle route truly begins when she requests help returning split bond certificates and later asks you to move Rosa's brooch without filing a report.

You can send Michelle to walk with troublemakers before the bedroom scene — that choice is compatible with both achievement paths and does not count as the affair flag.

Step 1 — bond halves

Michelle asks Winston to reunite two halves of a smuggled bond certificate found in passenger luggage. Search the indicated berth, combine items in inventory, and return both pieces without filing a Ministry report that incriminates her contact.

If you auto-report every peek, you may lock the hand-in dialogue. Lower report frequency for this station window or reload the pre-search save.

Step 2 — stolen brooch

Uncut Gems overlaps here: Rosa Wojciechowska's gold ruby brooch can come from a neighbor's luggage or Michelle's bag. Michelle's route wants you to deliver the brooch to her contact instead of the owner — a morally gray fork that still feeds At Your Service.

Hold the brooch until her follow-up prompt. Selling it to Nathan voids the chain.

Step 3 — King, Queen, Knave setup

Michelle asks you to assemble Gnevko's poker table: recruit Franz, Peter, and herself, then report back after the game. This step must finish before you ask her to eject rowdies if you want 387.44M — inviting her to poker first blocks the soft ejection line.

Michelle help dialogue

After promotion, inspect car seven and choose the dialogue branch that asks Michelle to walk the troublemakers off the train at the next stop. She agrees if she is not already committed to the poker quest.

This is the cleanest beholder conductor michelle achievement for players who dislike planting contraband on innocents — but it excludes N6655321 on the same save.

Common lockout

Recruiting Michelle to poker early feels logical because she mentions cards in banter. Doing so before the rowdy event removes the help option permanently until you reload an earlier station save.

Recruiting the table

Talk to Franz, Peter, and Michelle with the quest active. Each agrees separately; missing one NPC leaves the achievement incomplete. Report results to Michelle afterward to close At Your Service.

Community guides note Peter's PTSD arc still allows poker recruitment — do not confuse his resignation scene with poker lockout unless you skipped earlier introductions.

Brooch placement

Ensure Gnevko holds Rosa's brooch entering the hand, not Michelle. If Michelle carries the brooch into the game, she wins or loses unpredictably; the Discard hidden achievement specifically requires Gnevko to hold the gem, lose, and murder Michelle in anger.

Discard is mutually exclusive with a living Michelle romance — you cannot earn Ummagumma on a save where she dies at poker.

Two-step rejection trick

Steam achievement Ummagumma requires rejecting Michelle once, then accepting on a later prompt in the same playthrough. A single refusal with no follow-up does not award the badge.

Acceptance sets the affair flag that blocks Que Será Será at the finale — the best ending guide documents the clean-run rejection dialogue instead.

Cat requirement

Michelle's advanced scene checks cat ownership. If you gave Jack to Peter or surrendered him to Chantal, the bedroom invitation may never appear — do not rely on absent-cat skips when planning Ummagumma.
